Here's a great recipe for Halloween Cooking that's guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth! The kids can help with this one, too.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Caramel
- 5 – 10 servings of Apple Pie Filling (you can buy this in the store in cans or make your own using the recipe I linked)
- 1 – 2 cups Apple Cider
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons of baking coacoa
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- confectioners' sugar (optional)
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine salt, baking powder, cocoa, sugar, and flour. Mix well.
- In separate mixing bowl, combine eggs, corn syrup, vanilla, and oil.
- Mix the dry and wet ingredients together thoroughly. Using an electric mixer this should take about 1 minute.
- Heat the caramel, apple cider, and apple filling in separate pans. We don't want them hot, but warmed up for 5 – 10 minutes will do just fine.
- Add warmed caramel, apple cider, and apple filling into mix. If you want the nuts, go ahead and add them in or you can sprinkle on top after spreading mix into a pan.
- Spread out into a greased 13-inch x 9-inch x 2-inch baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 24 – 28 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test! (Stick a toothpick all the way down in the center. If it comes out clean, it's done!)
- You can dust with confectioners' sugar while it's warm if you choose to do so.
And enjoy! This is a very tasty, very sweet dish that's a great edition to any Halloween Cooking endeavors you have. Optionally, don't add in the cocoa and just make regular Caramel Apple Brownies if the chocolate might add too much sweetness. Remember, there's caramel, apple cider, and apple pie filling! The dish will be plenty sweet.
The amount of caramel, apple cider, and apple filling is down to preference. If you want a bit more or a bit less, don't worry! You can add some more or add less of these addon ingredients. Just keep the basic brownie mix the same to keep the right consistency.

Here's a quick, fun, delicious, and very easy dessert drink to make that's great for kids and adults! Halloween Cooking doesn't get any easier than this.
For ingredients you will need the following:
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Apple Cider
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg (optional)
- Caramel
The directions are very easy. Just follow along and you'll be drinking in minutes!
1. Put three large scoops of vanilla ice cream into a blender.
2. Add three cups of apple cider.
3. Add a tablespoon of cinnamon.
4. Add a teaspoon of nutmeg if you want.
5. Add 1/2 cup of caramel.
6. Blend it all together and enjoy!
If it's too thick you can add more apple cider to thin it a bit, or if it's too liquidy you can add more ice cream to thicken it. Preferences on cinnamon and nutmeg flavor differ greatly, so if you prefer a light taste only add part of the spices and add more after tasting if you want a stronger flavor. You can reduce or increase the amount of caramel for less or more sweetness.
If this is for adults you can add some Captain Morgan Spiced Rum for a slight kick!
Also, if you want to add a bit of flavor to the apple cider you can heat it in a pan with 1 clove per cup. If you use 3 cups of apple cider add 3 cloves. Heat it on low for 10 – 20 minutes and let it cool either in an open area or in the fridge before adding it to the blender. Make sure you remove the cloves before pouring into the blender! You don't want chopped cloves in your drink, do you?

Using a crock pot when doing some Halloween cooking is a great idea as there are many benefits to doing so. A crock pot demands very little attention and preparation. It's great for frequent interruptions, such as Halloween trick-or-treaters, and you don't run the risk of over cooking as easily as you do when using pots, pans, and an oven.
You can start cooking with a crock pot well before the guests arrive. Or you could create a meal and keep it warm in a crock pot.
Spaghetti and meatballs is a great idea for a simple meal and can be made in a crock pot fairly easily. You can even stick a stuffed olive into each meatball to make it look like an eyeball! Put the sauce, meatballs, and any chopped or diced vegetables you want into the crock pot.
Sloppy Joe mix also cooks well inside a crock pot. Serve this on open buns, use a small bit of cheese (torn into whatever shape you wish) for eyes, a pickle for the eyeball, and a large piece of cheese for the mouth.
You could make deviled eggs and turn them upside down. Add a long strand of shredded carrot or other vegetable to make a tail. Then use decorating gel, olives, or small beans for the eyes and you have yourself a deviled mouse!
Veggies for dips can be chopped in advance so that last minute preparation isn't necessary for easy appetizers. Remember to store them in a fridge so they are kept fresh.
Cookies and cakes should be baked and stored in advance as well.
These sweets can easily be decorated with candied pumpkins or candied corn for a more Halloween feel. Frosting and decorating gel can add quite a bit of potential to baking! Orange food coloring and vanilla frosting would give you a sweet frosting for Halloween Cooking and baking.
You could make a pizza and decorate it with spooky ingredients by designing it with Halloween symbols! Mozerella cheese sticks can be cut in half the long way to make half-circle cheese pieces. If you partially open one end you can stick sliced onions in to resemble finger nails. Some red sauce over these for blood and you have yourself a finger pizza! More ideas for this will be posted soon.
You can make chicken wings and call them bat wings! This adds a fun twist to the already fun night.
Use your imagination! Many ideas come forth when you realize there aren't any limits with Halloween cooking. Even if an idea is bad, try it out anyways and expand on it later. Your guests will often talk about a cheesy, yet superb idea for many months just because it was so creative and delicious!
